Along the ancient paths of the Gotthard in canton Uri there are a many chapels from various epochs. They provided travellers on foot or with pack animals passing through the valley of the Reuss and the canton Uri with shelter against bad weather and protection from other dangers. A great number of passers-by and local people used these chapels for prayers, placing their destiny in the hands of God.

Today, we remain burdened with worries and exposed to dangers. And we do not often find the time for reflexion or to consider the essential questions: Where are we heading? What is the meaning of our existence?

The «Place of Contemplation» invites the faithful and the curious to stop for a moment, reflect, pray perhaps.
