A building as a place

The «Place of Contemplation» is situated in a little alluvial forest on the widest strip of land between the motorway and the river Reuss. The main building stands close to the motorway. Passing travellers will remember the conspicuous cube-shaped building as a landmark or milestone on their route south. The courtyard of the «Place of Contemplation» enclosed by the cube extends to the path along the bank of the Reuss.

From the beginnings of the project, it was clear that this place had to serve all manner of visitor — of every religion, all cultures and any traveller seeking rest. Terms such as «church» or «chapel» have been deliberately avoided by using the denomination «Place of Contemplation».
